The Henry is a creative forum on the
University of Washington campus, bringing together a broad range of experiences and points of view, connecting new ideas in art to new ideas across disciplines.
The UW is a top research institution. With a collection of more than 28,000 objects, research at the Henry is meticulous and ongoing by our collections staff and a full roster of interns and work-study students. Our
Eleanor Henry Reed Collection Study Center is a hotbed of research (actually, it's quite cool in there and you might be asked to wear cotton gloves).
We welcome, without charge, all students, faculty, and staff to the Henry, and partner with more than twenty academic units and ten other units campus-wide to bring their students and faculty to the museum. Some are what you expect (School of Art+Art History+Design) and some are not (School of Medicine).
Ever wonder how non-artist academics respond to contemporary art? We asked. With
Viewpoints, a rotating exhibition series highlighting works selected from the Henry's permanent collection, faculty members from diverse disciplines are invited to consider and react to works of art. Their wide-ranging responses provoke and initiate further conversations.
We are proud to be a part of this dynamic community.
