Wheelchair Access
The museum is accessible by wheelchair, including the auditorium and restrooms. All three levels of the museum can be accessed via an elevator. Wheelchairs are available free of charge at the front desk. Please inquire at the front desk upon arrival.
Caregiver Benefit
Health aides and caregivers always receive free admission when accompanying their care recipients. The Henry offers suggested donation admission to all visitors.
Service Animals
Trained service dogs are welcome to assist visitors in the museum. Pets are not allowed.
Seating & Folding Chairs
Seating is available in the café, the Sculpture Court, and throughout the museum. Lightweight, foldable chairs for in-gallery use are available upon request—please ask our staff for assistance.
Restrooms
The Henry has two all-gender restrooms on the Mezzanine Level. Gendered restrooms are located on the Upper Level. All restrooms are fully accessible.
Museum Environment
The museum is typically quietest in the mornings before 11 AM and on Thursdays after 5 PM. The James Turrell skyspace, titled
Light Reign, offers a meditative experience and visitors are invited to sit back and absorb the work over a period of time. Please note that lighting may be dimmed in some galleries for display or conservation purposes. Complimentary earplugs and fidgets are available at the front desk.
Assisted Listening Devices
For programs taking place in the auditorium, Assisted Listening Devices (ALDs) are available upon request; please inquire at the front desk. For the majority of programs and events held within the galleries, ALDs are available as well. While we will likely be able to accommodate ad-hoc requests, we encourage visitors to email
contact-programs@henryart.org in advance so we can have the technology ready for use. For your safety, devices are cleaned after each use.
Touch Kits
The Henry provides touch kits for the majority of our exhibitions. Visitors are invited to interact with the materials provided, which mimic or are the same as the materials used in the exhibitions.
Text Size
All exhibition-related texts, including introductory texts and object labels, are printed in large text sizes. Magnifying glasses and flexible magnifying sheets are available as part of our touch kits.
Captioning and Transcripts
When possible, the Henry or our exhibiting artists provide closed captioning for video content. If an exhibition contains a video that does not have closed captioning, transcripts are available via QR codes as well as printed.
